Why was my transaction declined?

A  card_declined failure code typically indicates that the customer’s bank has refused the transaction request.

The most common reasons for declines are: 
  • Card Declined
  • Limit Exceeded
  • Insufficient Funds
  • Card Expired

Card Declined or Limit Exceed
It is recommended for the customer to contact the number on the back of the credit card to speak with the bank about these two responses.  Often times, the bank can provide more insight into the declination and allow payment after additional authorization or increasing the customer's limits. 

Insufficient Funds
You may attempt to recharge the card at a later date as funds may become available, or ask for the customer to provide an alternate payment method.

Card Expired
Ask the customer if they received a new card in the mail with an updated expiration date or if they need to provide new card information entirely.
